First ’08 Dig Day on the N-Trail

Harlan from the Teton Freedom Riders was our test pilot.

Despite Saturday’s low temps and a dusting of snow Eric, Steve, Quinn, Jed, Harlan, Jim, Lee and Anthony came out on the 1st Poedunks dig-day in ’08 Thanks!

We armored the approach to the table top, grubbed out yet another turn and flagged the rythym section

On tap for next Saturday March 22 will be completing the turn we grubbed, building the rythym section and some berm packing/clean up before we hit the rock garden! Meet @ the RSF softball fields 9 A.M.

One good turn deserves another….

…and another

Peavine Double Header

The Poedunks and dhreno scored big today pulling off a double header on The “N” Trail and Seeding The RSF Keystone Connector Trail.

Jim hauls a heavy load!

Thanks to Jim, Alex, Chris, Roger, Dale, Randy Jeff from the TMTA and Carolyn from Washoe County Parks for a job well done on the connector trail. Today was just icing on the cake for what has already been a really successful project. A native seed mix was spread over the area disturbed by the construction of the new trail, hopefully winter snows will blanket the trail and this spring we will have a nice ribbon of native vegetation meandering through our cheatgrass covered hillside! We also laid several rolls of Jute Netting which will hopefully erase some of the unwanted roads in The Keystone area. We also powered out a couple 2′ deep post holes for a nice bench overlooking the Truckee Meadows. Continue reading

More Berms!

Thanks to the dhreno crew Steve, Eric, Curtis, Scott, Paul, Dave and sons for another big day moving heavy rocks and dirt.

The N Trail project is really beginning to take shape we will be working every weekend until the snow flies. We built another berm and a rock feature. For all those who have been missing the fun here’s a peek at the goods…stay tuned for next weekends schedule Next Saturday A.M. we will be re seeding the Evans – Keystone connector -Randy

New Trail on Peavine!

Originally uploaded by i am indisposed

Here it is. The Evan’s Keystone Connector. It’s going to be long and nice. Finally an all dirt loop!

They’re using a Sweco 450 (or something) and cutting it in. He got most of the first pass done yesterday and will smooth it out over the rest of the week. The trial is nice and windy with some cool sidehills and climbing turns and an nifty little S-turn through some rocks.

Also on the docket is to push the singletrack all the way to the Keystone West Trailhead with a couple of switchbacks to get it out of the canyon and over.

We’re going to be finishing it off on October 6th and we need your help!
